Walsh Family Wine was launched in 2014 by Sarah and Nate Walsh, an ambitious couple with a passion for winemaking and a passion for creating premium Virginia wines. Nate began his journey in the industry in Central Virginia, then went on to work at wineries in Oregon and New Zealand. He later moved to Northern Virginia, where he spent seven years as a head winemaker. During this time, Sarah worked in fine wine sales. She worked in restaurants in Chicago, Atlanta, and Northern Virginia, then took a position as an importer on the East Coast, and earned a diploma from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust.
The couple met in 2012, and a year later, after marrying in 2013, they combined their efforts and founded Walsh Family Wine with the goal of creating high-quality wines. Sarah and Nate’s passion and synergy have helped them quickly establish production at six different Northern Virginia vineyards and become active in the state’s wine industry: they serve or have served on the boards of regional organizations such as the Virginia Wine Board, Virginia Vineyards Association, Virginia Wineries Association, and Loudoun Wineries Association.

The highlight of Walsh Family Wine is the Friday fireside dinners, where the warmth of the fire meets romance and cosiness. Under the shimmering sky, guests can enjoy fine wines, aromatic dishes, and the soft crackling of logs, creating an intimate atmosphere. It’s easy to feel like part of a friendly company: some come in pairs, some with friends, and some open the evening with new acquaintances born in casual conversations around the fire. Every moment seems a little more magical in such an environment – be it laughter shared at the table or a quiet conversation under the stars.
Winemaker’s Studio is a dedicated space at Walsh Family Wine, created as an incubator for aspiring winemakers. Here, young winemakers can use the equipment, production facilities, and expert support of the WFW team to develop and launch their own brands. At first, these were individual master classes, which over five years have evolved into a full-fledged mentoring and incubator, within which young winemakers have launched their own companies, such as Quartzwood Farm, Guide Wines, Boden Young, Clever Beast, Florilegium, and others.
