If you are looking for a quiet place by the lake where you can escape the hustle and bustle, spend a day among picturesque landscapes, and enjoy the best wines of Virginia, then Doukenie Winery is the perfect choice. Doukenie Winery has been producing red and white wines according to traditional recipes for 40 years, controlling all stages of production and regularly receiving gold and silver medals at prestigious competitions such as Loudoun Wine Awards and the Virginia Governor’s Cup.
The 318-acre family estate includes 23 acres on which 12 different varieties of grapes are grown. Here you can have a picnic by the water, enjoy live music, and even fish in peace and harmony. This place was a pleasant find, and stands out from others with its cleanliness, new furniture, and rules that prohibit smoking on the territory, as well as being pet-friendly.

The winery is named after their grandmother, Doukénie Babayanie, whose name means “Duchess” in Greek. This name reflects not only their heritage, but also the value they bring to winemaking. Doukénie’s grandmother emigrated to America at a young age, and her granddaughter, Hope, and youngest son, George, have revived the tradition of growing grapes on the family land.
The winery produces approximately 65-70 tons of grapes annually. The cellar includes the winery, barrels, and tanks, and the production processes are carried out entirely on site. This allows for quality control from vineyard to bottle. The following grape varieties are grown on the property: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Tannatб Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Seyval Blanc, Traminette, Viognier.

The Doukénie Winery has a picturesque pond where guests can not only enjoy a glass of wine on the shore, but also try their hand at fishing. The rules are simple: catch and release only, and the hooks must be barbless. Thanks to this, the pond is always full of fish, and the atmosphere remains calm and harmonious. There is no noise, city bustle, or crowded places to relax – only nature, vineyards, and the water’s quiet surface.
This is why the Doukénie pond is a special place for family recreation. For fathers, it is an excellent opportunity to teach children the basics of fishing, giving them their first impressions of a cast rod and the joy of catching a fish. And for children, it is a safe and inspiring experience: they learn patience, attentiveness, and love for nature. This kind of pastime creates warm memories that will stay with them for a lifetime, and parents will be left with the feeling that they gave their children not just a lesson, but a real little adventure.
