Autumn is the time of annual food festivals all over America. This time, we visited the “Around The World Cultural Food Festival,” which this year is taking place in the Old Town of Alexandria, founded in 1749 in Virginia.
Food festivals are a great opportunity to get acquainted with local farms and local producers. This year, representatives of 24+ nationalities were registered at the festival, demonstrating dishes according to their traditional recipes.
The atmosphere is light, festive, but at the same time very soulful. This is a great time for a picnic, so experienced travelers take chairs with them and take a comfortable place to discover new tastes, with bright costume shows and musical accompaniment. The tasting experience turns into a journey for the whole day.
Today, you can try fresh Mexican cuisine, Asian food, oriental sweets, a large selection of desserts, craft beer, wine from local winemakers, and fresh meat products.
This is truly a festival of tastes and aromas. All the central streets are filled with the smell of fresh barbecue, sweet pastries, spicy sauces, and coffee brewed right in the open air.
To take a break from food, it is worth walking along King Street, the main street of the Old Part of the city. Here is a fair zone where local artisans and young entrepreneurs sell home and comfort goods of their own production.
Let me remind you that this year it was the ninth festival. Entrance to the festival is free, but it is worth choosing a parking place in advance. To do this, visit the official website of the festival “Around The World Cultural Food Festival” and look at the parking map and conditions. Plan your visit and watch the festival announcements. This is a cool event that you will want to repeat.
